It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (1)

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted at The Book Date and is a way to share what we've read in the past week, what we're currently reading, and what's next!

I just finished Tender Morsels after a long long time waiting (I've probably had it since 2009), and it seemed to take forever to finish. I did enjoy it for the most part, but the middle part was entirely too slow, with too many man-bears. Such beautiful writing though. 3/5, review to come.

I was super into this book at the beginning, my interest waned near the middle, and then it picked right back up again at the end. I look forward to the sequel. Plus, what a pretty book! 4/5

I've been waiting to continue this series for forever, and I'm loving it so far! The mixture of fantasy and historical fiction is just perfect.

That cover!!! I've heard some really lackluster reviews on this one, but I'm loving it so far. It's unique and atmospheric, and FRANCE <3

This is a re-read. It's been way too long since I've done a read-through of LOTR.

So cute so far! And I love the boots on the cover.

I got this from Netgalley; I love Ann Brashares and I'm really enjoying the story so far.

I'm getting close to finishing the Pendragon series legit 10 years after starting it!!!

  1. I've read all the Pretty Little Liars books too, but didn't like it half as much as the tv series! That was seriously addictive! Happy reading and here's my April Library Card: http://marelithalkink.blogspot.co.za/2017/04/library-card-april-2017.html

    1. The TV series is definitely on par with the books for me too, which is rare in tv/movie adaptations! Thanks for stoppping by :)

    1. The Pendragon series is great! It does start out middle grade and bit immature, but it's got such a great setting and plot. Thanks for stopping by! :)

    1. Hahah I'll steer clear until I finish ;) The Brashares novel was really good at first, but I'm getting annoyed by it now. Pretentious teen narrators are the WORST. Thanks for stopping by!

  6. Just read the Frostblood review. :) And yay for an LotR re- read. I re- read part of Fellowship a few weeks ago in preparation for a post and it rekindled my love for that setting. Haven't read children of Hurin though.

    1. It really is one of the best series to re-read for me, because it's so complex that I find details that I missed every time I read. Thanks for reading and commenting on the Frostblood review! I'll tell you a secret: I'm new at this blogging thing, and you're the first person to ever comment on a review and not just a meme! So thanks! :D

  8. "too many man-bears" - not something you read everyday! :) I want to read Caraval too! It looks really good.

    Have a great week!

    1. Hahah, true, but there are way too many in that book! It's basically a novel of two worlds, a dream world that one of the main characters created, and the true world. The men are men in the true world, but bears when they accidentally pass into the dream world. And things get kind not-okay with bestiality and such which was a definite downside!

Caraval looks so good - I'm starting in a week or two when I get my currently reading pile under control!

Have a great week as well!

    1. Yeah, I like to cycle through a few at one time :) I enjoyed Frost Blood, I think the sequel will be really interesting too! And you have to read LOTR, it's just the best!
